Boarding / Agisting

All animals that reside with us (permanently or temporarily) are guaranteed to have an excellent quality of life.

Nutrition - our nutrition program is based on high quality hay, nutrition supplements, and free-feed minerals. Our nutrition program has been validated by our local veterinarian and others specializing in camelid nutrition.  Very special care is given to any animal that requires a special nutrition program.

Grazing - we have nice grass pastures for grazing.  This helps keep the alpacas in their natural environment.  Our animals do not live in "dry-lots".  They have the choice to graze the pasture or return to the barn for fresh water, grass hay, nutrients, or to seek shelter from the weather.

Veterinarian Care - our wonderful Veterinarian is 20 minutes away and ensures we are well educated. His practice is devoted to the alpaca industry and recently constructed a new facility that includes emergency in-house services.  We also have a mobile Vet that is available to us.

Our boarding fee includes all combinations of excellent grass hay, alfalfa hay, mineral supplements and specially formulated alpaca pellets.  We trim the toenails as general care, weigh the animals regularly, and ensure that all our animals are healthy and happy.  All "normal" periodic vaccinations (CD&T, Ivermect, Panacure/Safeguard De-worming) are included in our normal fee.  All animals are gently halter trained using the T-Team Training concepts.  Any special vaccination, vet care, birthing care, etc. is invoiced separately.

Please feel free to contact us and ask as many questions as you can.  We can schedule a ranch visit so you can see our amenities and the care we give our animals.

The animals at Avertine Hill Alpacas are very healthy and happy.  Our living quarters are built with the animals' best interest in mind.  All pastures lead back to the barn and internal paddock that is secured at night.  Our animals have fresh water, excellent hay, nutrients, shade, shelter, cooling systems, etc.  Our barn is equipment with 24 hour surveillance to aid us in "baby watch" from the house and the internet.  We believe in building a secure, safe, and pleasurable lifestyle for all our animals.

We take great pride in our Nutrition program.  Our hay is tested for nutrient values.  We select only the best grass hay available, even if it costs more.  We supplement our animal by their individual needs as much as possible.  We feed a high quality pellet specially formulated for alpacas, based on our pastures minerals, the time of year, and the quality of the hay.  The proof is in our healthy babies, our happy Dams, and the beautiful fleeces our animals are producing.

Biosecurity is a big concern of ours.  Any animal new to our farm is quarantined for an appropriate amount of time for the safety of that animal and our entire herd.  We take great measures to ensure that viruses are not spread through our herd.

Veterinarian care is our priority.  Our Vet is well educated on camelids and is continually expanding his knowledge,  He has a 24-hour care facility available and is willing to travel to us with one phone call asking for help.  He is well respected in our industry and spends time with us at our shows, our farm days, and education clinics.  We know each other well have which has enabled us to work well together.
